It was late October of 2005 when James Napier first contacted Anthony Amendola. Both had posted remembrances of Donald Turso on several vietnam memorial websites. Anthony was a classmate of Donnie's in Harrison, NY in the 60's. They graduated together from high school in 1966. Jim served with Donnie in Vietnam. Jim's first email to Anthony began, "I knew your buddy in Vietnam." Jim had an idea to create a tribute to Donnie on a USMC website. It turned out well, but greater access for families and friends was needed, and the idea for this website was born.

Coincidentally, Anthony and Jim were contacted by some of Donnie's family members, also through the Vietnam websites. Special thanks to Jim Napier and his wife, Diana, and to Donnie's nieces, Betty Turso, Patti Phillips and sister Debbie, and Christina Turso. Thank you all for providing family photos and personal memories and comments to this website. Together we have remembered how much Donnie was loved and how much he is missed. Through this website we hope to keep Donnie's memory alive. To quote Ed Worthington,
"NO ONE IS GONE AS LONG AS SOMEONE STILL HAS MEMORIES OF THEM."

Also, special thanks to Patrick Byrnes, our website designer, for a job well done. Thank you for visiting. Anthony & Judy Amendola ~ Jim & Diana Napier
